From the outside, Reiki, sound-based sessions and energy cleansing can look very similar. In each one, you lie down fully clothed in a calm room while a practitioner guides the session. So what actually makes them different?
This Journal article isn't about format (private or group, in person or online). It looks at the practices themselves: what the practitioner does, what you're invited to focus on, and how each one tends to feel. All three are complementary wellbeing practices for rest and reflection. None is a medical or psychological treatment, and none replaces care from a health professional.
Three quiet practices, three different approaches
A simple way to think about it:
• Reiki works through touch and placement. • Sound-based sessions work through listening. • Energy cleansing works through intention: a focus on clearing and letting go.
Each offers a different "doorway" into rest. Some people naturally settle through touch, some through sound, and some through a clear intention.
Reiki: gentle, structured hand placements
Reiki is a traditional practice that originated in Japan. At Neo Nour it's described as a Reiki session with gentle hand placement or hands held above the body.
What the practitioner does: moves through a sequence of hand positions, often from head to feet, resting lightly on or just above the body. What you focus on: nothing in particular. You simply receive and rest. Many people notice warmth or heaviness where hands are placed; others notice very little. How it tends to feel: steady, quiet and predictable in a reassuring way. The structure means you can let go of wondering "what's next". Might suit you if: you find gentle touch calming, or you'd like a well-established, traditional practice. Sound-based sessions: attention through listening
Neo Nour's sound-based sessions use tuning forks as part of a sound-based practice, with time to pause and settle.
What the practitioner does: strikes tuning forks and lets the tones ring near your ears or close to the body, layering sound with plenty of silence in between. What you focus on: the sound itself, as it rises, lingers and fades. Listening gives a busy mind something easy to follow. How it tends to feel: spacious and absorbing. Some people feel the gentle vibration of a fork held nearby. Might suit you if: silence makes your mind race, or you love music and sound. Note that sound sessions involve less touch than Reiki. Energy cleansing: an intention of letting go
Our energy cleansing session is described as a session focused on clearing unwanted or stagnant energy.
What the practitioner does: works with light touch or hands above the body, guided by an intention of clearing rather than a fixed sequence. What you focus on: you may be invited to bring a simple intention, such as releasing a busy month or feeling more settled. How it tends to feel: many people describe a sense of lightness or "making space". The word "cleansing" here is a metaphor for letting go, not a physical detox. Might suit you if: you feel heavy or full and want a session centred on release. Read more in energy healing in Lebanon. Energy cleansing is also part of the combined Energy Detox & Crystal Healing session, explained in crystal healing in Lebanon.

These are general descriptions. Everyone's experience differs, and there's no "right" way to feel.
What they have in common
Despite their differences, the three practices share a lot:
• you stay fully clothed and rest comfortably; • each begins with a short check-in and ends with time to come back slowly; • you're always in control, and can pause or adjust at any time; • all are complementary, offered for rest and reflection, not treatment.
And if you can't decide, the Personalized Holistic Session lets your healer choose an approach to suit you on the day.
Questions people often ask
Which one is the "strongest"? None. They're simply different approaches, and the best one is the one you feel drawn to.
Can I try all three? Of course. Many people explore one at a time and notice which they enjoy most.
Is Reiki a type of energy healing? Yes. Reiki is one form of energy healing. Our energy cleansing session is a separate session focused specifically on clearing and letting go.
Which is best for a first visit? Any of them. If touch feels uncomfortable for you, a sound-based session may feel easier.
Do any of these treat stress, pain or illness? No. They're complementary wellbeing practices, not treatments. Please continue any care from health professionals.
Can I combine practices? Ask about combined sessions on the Experiences page, or leave a note when you book.
