Holistic wellbeing has its own vocabulary. Words like "intention", "grounding" or "energy" can feel vague, or even a little intimidating, the first time you hear them. We'd rather you felt at home.

This Journal article explains four words you're most likely to hear at Neo Nour, plus a few others, in plain language. It isn't a scientific or medical reference. It's simply how we use these words in our sessions, which are complementary wellbeing practices for rest and reflection, not treatments.

Why words matter

Clear language helps you feel informed and in control. When you know what a word means, you can decide whether a practice feels right, ask better questions, and relax more easily during your session. If a word ever feels unclear in a session, please ask. Clear, comfortable communication is part of the care.

Intention

What it means: a word or short phrase that gives a gentle direction to a session or a day, such as "rest", "let go", "go gently" or "listen".

How it's used at Neo Nour: at the start of some sessions, you may be invited to bring an intention. In an energy cleansing session, for example, the focus is on letting go of what feels heavy, and an intention can help you name that.

What it isn't: a goal you must achieve, or a test. It's equally fine to come with no intention at all.

Try it: tomorrow morning, before checking your phone, choose one word for the day. Return to it once or twice when you remember.

Grounding

What it means: feeling present and settled in your body and surroundings, rather than caught up in thoughts.

How it's used at Neo Nour: grounding moments often open and close a session: noticing your breath, the weight of your body on the table, or your feet on the floor before you stand. Some people find crystals or sound a helpful focal point for this.

What it isn't: a technique with a "correct" outcome. Grounding simply means coming back to the here and now.

Try it: wherever you are, notice three things you can see, two things you can hear, and one thing you can feel. More simple practices like this are in our small everyday rituals to pause.

Energy

What it means: in holistic traditions, "energy" describes a felt sense of aliveness, flow or heaviness. People might say they feel "drained", "full", "light" or "stuck".

How it's used at Neo Nour: practices like Reiki and energy cleansing work with this traditional idea of subtle energy, through light touch or hands held above the body. Sound-based sessions are sometimes described in terms of vibration and energy too; read more in sound healing in Lebanon.

What it isn't: a scientific or medical measurement. Energy, as we use it, is a traditional and experiential concept. We don't make medical claims about it, and words like "stagnant energy" describe a feeling, not a diagnosis.

Integration

What it means: the time after a session when you notice how you feel and carry anything helpful into everyday life.

How it's used at Neo Nour: we encourage a soft landing after every session: water, a slower pace, perhaps a few written notes. Our guide to gentle ways to integrate a session shares ideas for the hours and days afterwards.

What it isn't: a process you have to get right. Some people notice a lot after a session; others notice very little. Both are fine. For a wider reflection on slowing down, read the art of rest.

A few more words you may hear

• Check-in: the short conversation at the start of a session about how you're feeling and any preferences. • Light touch / hands above the body: the two ways hands may be used in Reiki or energy cleansing. You can always choose. • Holding space: when a practitioner creates a calm, non-judgemental environment where you can rest or reflect without pressure. • Ritual: an ordinary action done with intention. • Combined session: two complementary practices in one visit, such as Energy Detox & Crystal Healing or the Crystal & Breathwork Experience. • Personalized Holistic Session: a session where the healer chooses an approach to suit you on the day.

Words we use carefully

• "Healing": in holistic spaces, this often means a sense of rest, reconnection or wellbeing, not a medical cure. Neo Nour sessions don't diagnose, treat or cure any condition. • "Detox": used only as a metaphor for letting go. It's not a physical detox. • "Results": experiences vary. There's no correct way to feel after a session. • "Confidential": we don't use formal language we can't define. Instead: what you share is held with care and discretion. If you have specific privacy questions, ask before your session.

Questions people often ask

Do I need to know these words before a session? Not at all. They're here to help you feel at ease, not to test you.

Do I have to believe in energy for a session to be worthwhile? No. Many people simply enjoy an hour of rest and quiet attention.

Is an intention the same as a wish or affirmation? It can be similar, but softer: more of a direction than a promise.

What if a word in a session makes me uncomfortable? Tell your practitioner. They'll gladly explain or use different language.

Are any of these practices medical treatments? No. They're complementary wellbeing practices. Please continue any care you receive from health professionals.
