Some weeks, it feels as though we forget to breathe properly until Friday. Deadlines, family, news, traffic: everything asks for our attention, and our breath quietly becomes short and shallow without us noticing.
That's one reason breathwork and guided meditation have become such popular ways to pause in Lebanon. They need no equipment, no special flexibility and no experience. In this Journal article, we'll share what these sessions look like at Neo Nour, what to expect, and a simple practice you can try at home.
Why the breath is a good place to start
Your breath is always with you. You can't leave it at home, and you don't need to buy anything to use it. Paying gentle attention to how you breathe is one of the simplest ways to bring yourself back to the present moment.
Many people find that slowing the breath and following a calm voice helps a busy mind settle. Others simply enjoy having a guided space where, for once, someone else holds the structure and they can just follow.
A note of care: breathwork and meditation at Neo Nour are complementary wellbeing practices. They aren't medical or psychological treatments and don't replace care from your doctor or therapist. If you have a respiratory, heart or other health condition, are pregnant, or have a history of panic attacks, please mention it when you book so your session can be gentle and adapted.
What breathwork and guided meditation look like at Neo Nour
Our Breathwork & Guided Meditation session is a guided practice that combines intentional breathing with a calm, spoken meditation. The breathing is led at a comfortable pace, and you're always free to return to natural breathing at any time.
The meditation part is gentle and spoken. Your guide might invite you to notice sensations in the body, picture a calm place, or simply rest your attention on sound and breath. You don't have to "clear your mind". Noticing that it wanders, and returning, is part of the practice.
What happens in a session
Arriving. You'll begin with a short check-in about how you're feeling and any preferences or considerations.
Getting comfortable. You can sit or lie down, fully clothed, in a calm space, with cushions and blankets available.
Breathing. Your guide introduces a simple breathing pattern and adjusts the pace to you. Some people feel tingling, warmth, emotion or a sense of release; others feel calmer and quieter. If anything feels like too much, slow down or breathe normally, and let your guide know.
Meditation and rest. The breathing gives way to a guided meditation, then a period of quiet rest.
Closing. You come back slowly, sit up when ready, have some water and share anything you noticed, if you'd like.
Private, group or combined: choosing your format
Neo Nour offers breathwork and meditation in a few ways. Current details, durations and prices are on our Experiences page.
• Private Breathwork & Guided Meditation: one-to-one time, paced entirely around you. A good choice for your first experience. • Group Breathwork & Guided Meditation: a shared guided session. Many people find breathing in a room with others grounding and motivating. Places are limited and prices are per person. • Crystal & Breathwork Experience: a private combined session with crystal healing, guided breathwork and meditation. Read more in our guide to crystal healing in Lebanon. See the Crystal & Breathwork Experience for how a combined session flows.
Private and group sessions are available in person in Lebanon or online, which makes breathwork a lovely option if you'd like to join from home.
If you prefer to rest without active breathing, you might enjoy a sound-based session or Reiki instead.
A small practice to try this week
Here's a gentle exercise you can do almost anywhere. Stop if you feel uncomfortable or light-headed.
• Sit comfortably and let your shoulders drop. • Breathe in gently through your nose for a slow count of four. • Breathe out slowly through your nose or softly parted lips for a count of six. • Repeat for two or three minutes, keeping the breath easy, never forced. • Before you get up, notice one thing you can hear, one thing you can feel, and one thing you can see.
That's it. Try it before a busy meeting, after dropping the kids off, or before sleep. A ritual doesn't need to be elaborate to feel intentional. For more ideas, see our small everyday rituals to pause.
Questions people often ask
I've never meditated. Is that a problem? Not at all. Guided sessions are designed for beginners as much as for regular practitioners.
Is breathwork intense? At Neo Nour, the breathing is guided at a comfortable pace. You can always slow down or return to natural breathing.
Can breathwork treat anxiety or sleep problems? Breathwork is a complementary practice for rest and reflection, not a treatment. If you're experiencing anxiety, sleep difficulties or other health concerns, please speak with a qualified professional.
Can I join online? Yes. Private and group sessions are available online as well as in person. Check the Experiences page for current formats.
What should I wear? Comfortable clothes you can sit or lie down in.
Should I eat beforehand? A light meal a little while before is ideal. Avoid coming on a very full stomach.
